And the message is?

Iraq faces greater bloodshed and instability if British troops are withdrawn too early, Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett has said. Iraqi authorities would be unable to stop the country, already "dangerous and volatile", being turned into a base for terrorism, she told a conference.

The Conference was organised by the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) and the picture top-left is a "grab" from the video of the Beckett speech (kindly provided by the Beeb).

But, the picture shown on the BBC website reporting the speech is top right – a stock image which inexplicably has both the Union Jack and the EU ring of stars in the background - quite unlike the actual image.

Furthermore, the speech was not about the EU and there was no reference to the EU. It was about the terrorist threat and it was actually quite good. So what point is the BBC trying to make?
