The European Commission is threatening to suspend Structural Fund payments to the UK unless it improves its auditing of how the money is spent. Graham Meadows, its Director General for Regional Policy, has said that "irregularities" have been found in all English regions, except the South West.Way to go, say I.
In return, we can suspend our payment of considerably larger sums into the EU coffers until such time when the Court of Auditors finally signs off an annual (or any other) budget. Pigs are flying past my window in large numbers.
