No longer news
It all started with this, written in concert with Booker. After almost exactly five years, it ends with this and an online advert for second-hand Snatches. If I could afford it, I'd buy one as a reminder, just to make sure people do not forget.
But the heat has already gone, the interest dissipated. Today, Booker's piece on the Snatch gets three comments (at the time of writing). The one on windmills gets forty-four. Even my piece barely got any comments.
Furthermore, some newspapers didn't even bother to report the story. Many that did got it wrong. Now there is no political advantage to be milked from it, dead soldiers and forgotten wars are no longer news.
