To coincide with the euro-elections, we thought we might do a penetrating analytical piece abut the EU and its sham parliament. But frankly, after five years of writing about the evil empire on this blog, we have concluded that the only information our readers want to hear about it is when it is going to die.
Anyhow, Bruno Waterfield does it better – a coruscating indictment of the "project". There needs to be a discussion about the nature of politics, who participates in politics, and to ask for whom political structures are organised, he writes. It needs to become an argument about what politics should be, in opposition to how it is. And, concludes our man "I don't see that in this European election."
The trouble is, we don't see it elsewhere, either.
