I was reminded by one of our readers that Berlusconi's spectacular come-back (the comfortable majority was won on the basis of an 8o per cent turn-out) comes at a time when not just the economic outlook is poor, though not quite as terrible as some people on this forum appear to wish for, but also when the EU is doing a great deal to help Spain out of her difficulties.
The eurocracy, as we know, and the non-Berlusconi media absolutely hate the man. We know this. So, presumably, there will be no helping hand extended to Italy in her difficulties. But will Berlusconi's election make any difference to Italy and to the European project? Discuss.
OK let's roll. I want a few more hands in the air.
