How much more evidence?
For those who, despite all evidence to the contrary, are determined to believe The Boy is a "eurosceptic", Cranmer provides another strand of evidence to confirm that they are the stupid, malign, self-deceiving fools that we have always held them to be.
Writes His Grace, it is the prime minister who puts the ultimate political stamp of approval on the Honours List before it is passed to the Queen. And here we have a Conservative prime minister bestowing one of the nation's highest honours "for services to the enlargement of the European Union". Nor is this the only euroslime to receive honours.
We can deal with europhiles, and what Spinelli called "the swamp", the non-aligned, uncommitted middle ground. But what is near impossible to tolerate are those who should know better, those who put blind, tribal loyalty before intellect, and go with what they wish to believe rather than what is.
Our side talks glibly of traitors, but these people are the real traitors – to themselves and their own ideals. They are more dangerous than the overt enemy. At least we know who they are. They show their colours without deception, and do not pretend to be anything other than what they are.
Yet still we will hear and see the idle prattle. But how much more evidence will they need before they finally accept that Cameron is not, never has been and never will be a eurosceptic, in any shape, form or by any definition?
