Chichester resigns …

…but only as leader of the Tory group in the EU parliament (so far). After being fingered by the News of the World, the The Independent and, most recently, The Sunday Times, the Tories finally reacted today, allowing this egregious gravy-train rider to vacate the leadership.

However, he is still an MEP, still takes the Conservative whip and is still top of the list for re-election on the Tory ticket next year.

Conservative Home broke the story, and the BBC also has it. Chichester himself calls his transgression(s) a "whoops-a-daisy" moment.
